Red Wine Aia Vecchia Casavecchia

Tenuta Pezzapane is proud to introduce Aia Vecchia Casavecchia, a red wine of great character produced in the evocative setting of the Terre del Volturno, in Alta Campania.

The grapes of Casavecchia, an indigenous vine of this area, sink their roots into a clayey-calcareous soil with a north-northwest exposure at 300 meters above sea level. The staggered harvest and manual selection of the bunches ensure that only the best grapes are selected for the production of this red wine.

The alcoholic fermentation of the red wine takes place in steel tanks for about 30 days, with frequent pumping over and punching down for a delicate extraction of tannins and aromas. This is followed by 12 months of aging in oak and chestnut barrels and a further 12 months of bottle aging.

Organoleptic characteristics:

• Color: Intense ruby red with violet reflections.
• Nose: An elegant bouquet of violet, ripe plum, cocoa and balsamic notes of licorice.
• Palate: Full and complex taste, with well-balanced tannins and a persistent finish.

• Seasoned cheeses: The intense and persistent taste of Casavecchia creates an intriguing contrast with the strong flavor of seasoned cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano, Grana Padano and Pecorino Romano.
• Hearty first courses: Casavecchia also goes well with savory first courses, such as pasta with wild boar ragu, gnocchi with porcini mushrooms and risotto with sausage and radicchio.

This red wine has an alcohol content of 13.5%.
